*3。5a sweet little story, but it does not feel very planned out or thought through the way i like my stories。 it feels very spontaneous and nonsensical, which is sweet and enjoyable in its own way, but just not really my cup of tea。 many of the characters are very sweet and imaginative。 i would like dorothy to have more agency, though。

The book is very different from the movie。 The clever writing leads an adult reader to realize early on that the scarecrow has a brain, the lion is courageous, and the tin-man has a heart from the first introduction to the reader。 The lion jumps over a gulf with everyone on their back which the scarecrow volunteers to go first with the reason that he won't get hurt if he gets dropped in the river below。 The tin-man protects a field mouse because he has a caring heart。 I enjoyed reading this book The book is very different from the movie。 The clever writing leads an adult reader to realize early on that the scarecrow has a brain, the lion is courageous, and the tin-man has a heart from the first introduction to the reader。 The lion jumps over a gulf with everyone on their back which the scarecrow volunteers to go first with the reason that he won't get hurt if he gets dropped in the river below。 The tin-man protects a field mouse because he has a caring heart。 I enjoyed reading this book as I didn't read it as a child。 。。。more

Reading the book after watching the movie does diminish the beauty of the original。 I was surprised to see Dorothy as a kid and not a teen。 Still, it was an enjoyable read with more scenes than the movie。 So that's 4 stars。 Reading the book after watching the movie does diminish the beauty of the original。 I was surprised to see Dorothy as a kid and not a teen。 Still, it was an enjoyable read with more scenes than the movie。 So that's 4 stars。 。。。more

Although I love the movie and have watched it many times I found the book refreshing。 Less pageantry and singing, more story telling。 Quite enjoyable。

This book is about Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto who during a tornado get dropped off in the land of Oz。 There she meets the Witch of North, who tells her to see the Great Wizard of Oz as he might help her return home。 Along the way, she meets a scarecrow who is missing a brain, a tin man that doesn’t have a heart and a lion who needs courage。 This book has great characters and an engaging storyline。 It is a heartwarming, brilliant read。

Un lungo viaggio metaforico e meraviglioso, con tante speciali chicche nei dialoghi che donano una magica genialità agli specialissimi personaggi。

*Review from my 10 year old*I liked many things about the book。 I liked the part about Oz not really being what he expressed himself to be。 He wasn't the great and powerful Wizard。 Instead, he was just a little old man who got to Oz in a balloon。 My favorite part about the book was how the city wasn't really an Emerald City。 It was just a normal city but the spectacles gave an illusion of an Emerald colored city。I also really liked how Oz did the floating head trick with the fake head on the str *Review from my 10 year old*I liked many things about the book。 I liked the part about Oz not really being what he expressed himself to be。 He wasn't the great and powerful Wizard。 Instead, he was just a little old man who got to Oz in a balloon。 My favorite part about the book was how the city wasn't really an Emerald City。 It was just a normal city but the spectacles gave an illusion of an Emerald colored city。I also really liked how Oz did the floating head trick with the fake head on the string and opening the mouth with a stick like a puppet! This book was a really good book and I loved how they went through all of these crazy, wicked adventures just to find out that Dorothy was wearing the shoes that could have taken her home all along。 。。。more

Reading this now as an adult I can definitely see the elements that would have made this book great to either read as a kid or be read to。 However as far as kids books go esspecially considering this one's age it gets shockingly brutal。 To the point where I'm not sure how there hasn't been a more violent remaining of it or something already。There's glimmers of an interesting world as far as fairytale realms go and I know from being read one of the later books while I was still in elementary scho Reading this now as an adult I can definitely see the elements that would have made this book great to either read as a kid or be read to。 However as far as kids books go esspecially considering this one's age it gets shockingly brutal。 To the point where I'm not sure how there hasn't been a more violent remaining of it or something already。There's glimmers of an interesting world as far as fairytale realms go and I know from being read one of the later books while I was still in elementary school that they do get interesting。 However if we're comparing the wizard of Oz to other works meant for children around this time like the chronicles of narnia or the hobbit it doesn't really hold up very well。 How the story went in the movie was miles better than the absolute pacing mess that the last chunk of this turned into。 Most other criticisms I'd have for this one as a book are integral to how this book is meant for children so I won't do that。Overall this was an okay book but I wouldn't really say it's worth reading if it's not for children but then again as I mentioned earlier it still plays pretty fast and lose with graphic violence so that's your judgment call to make。 。。。more

Buen libro, el final no me gustó tanto fue un final como muy reforzado, puro de resto muy chevere y entretenido, lo leí a los 26 años y lo vi con otra perspectiva así que creo que por eso me gustó mucho

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz takes on the issue of self-worth and identity in a wonderful way, reminding any person, regardless of age, that there is nothing to be embarrassed of: we become who we choose to be。 All we need to do is shift our perspective and believe in ourselves。 Furthermore, this tale isn't just about identification; it's also about how we go about achieving the identity we want。When it comes to finding our way home, Dorothy teaches us that we can bring a piece of home with us。 De The Wonderful Wizard of Oz takes on the issue of self-worth and identity in a wonderful way, reminding any person, regardless of age, that there is nothing to be embarrassed of: we become who we choose to be。 All we need to do is shift our perspective and believe in ourselves。 Furthermore, this tale isn't just about identification; it's also about how we go about achieving the identity we want。When it comes to finding our way home, Dorothy teaches us that we can bring a piece of home with us。 Despite her desire to return to Kansas with her pet Toto, we see that she can find “home” for a time in the company of companions who assist her along the route。 The bond that bloomed in these pages was the emotional centre for me。All of the characters were quite likeable。 I hoped I could snuggle with Toto, give Dorothy a reassuring hug, or even cheer the dejected lion and reassure the Scarecrow and Wood Tinsman that they already possessed plenty of brains and heart。 That, I believe, is how you can tell if a book has done an outstanding job。The characters stick with you, and despite their fake nature, they feel real in some ways。 。。。more

Está guay para niños de 5 años。 Con sus moralejas y eso por ahí metidas con calzador。 Si tienes más de 5 años pasa de leerlo es una pérdida de tiempo。

An adorable children’s story!

A good classic, not really my kind of book though。 You can tell that it is written for younger readers as every problem is molded specifically for one of the group's abilities, so they don't last very long。 A good read though, although it's a strange storyline。 A good classic, not really my kind of book though。 You can tell that it is written for younger readers as every problem is molded specifically for one of the group's abilities, so they don't last very long。 A good read though, although it's a strange storyline。 。。。more

I had way too much fun reading this。 It took me back to my childhood。 Ps。 Dorothy Gale is one of the biggest villains of ALL TIME。 Yep I’ll die on that hill。

This is a great book to read。 If you want to read some stories to your children, perhaps this book is one that i can recommend to you。 The strory line is so simple but adventurous。 There are some plot twist I might say but still this is great story about a girl who travel so far just to get back to her home。

Listened as an audiobook, read by Tavia Gilbert。 Wow。 I read this in my childhood and I remembered absolutely nothing。 Dorothy is a pretty crappy main character。 And I didn’t care for the narration at all。

It was interesting to see the differences between the movie and this book, I wanted to read it because it's on a lot of banned lists and I didn't read into why。 Women are awesome and this is a seriously old book。 Men have been afraid of L。 Frank Baum corrupting their little girls into thinking they can do things on their own for a long time now and I'm all for keeping up with that tradition。 It was interesting to see the differences between the movie and this book, I wanted to read it because it's on a lot of banned lists and I didn't read into why。 Women are awesome and this is a seriously old book。 Men have been afraid of L。 Frank Baum corrupting their little girls into thinking they can do things on their own for a long time now and I'm all for keeping up with that tradition。 。。。more
